Iceland has one of the largest gun ownership rates in the world, and yet has one of the lowest crime rates in the world.

Iceland is awash in guns, yet it has one of the lowest violent crime rates in the world.

I recently learned this after hearing about the Iceland Police regretting their first ever civilian casualty in an armed police operation. This is not a newsblog, but my mind was blown by this fact. It's 2013 and for Iceland, it's the first time in history that a man got killed by the police. That is fantastic. Sad that things like these are news and not the norm. Iceland rose up in my bucketlist of 'countries to see soon'.
