I was drafting a very extensive post on the whole Tesla vs New York Times debacle. But I found out that The Next Web already did an excellent job with this, so if you're not fully up to speed, I'd suggest you read the article.
Also I just learned the Tesla Motors Club has taken it upon themselves to recreate the trip Broder took. They've created a Twitter account that live tweets all the telemetry data in real time especially for this trip. Furthermore Musk has stated they're going to do a time lapse video to further prove their point;
I'm strongly leaning towards Tesla as the 'winner' in this ordeal. It's clear that Tesla holds all the precise vehicle data and can back up their claims. Broders response however, is short of this. More reasons to sympathise with Tesla?
- CNN did the trip and had 96 miles to spare.
- Broder's contributing history seem to consist mostly of jabs towards alternative energy.
- Musk sends stuff into space.
- Keep in mind there are a lot of powerful groups who would benefit from the failing of alternative energy.
I, for one, hope to see this explode even more, making Broder eat his words. Then I'd like to see Tesla's success diminish big oil.
