Hmm. In light of 'free and open information', I saw this documentary 'Google and the World Brain' recently. It's mainly about the Google Books project. Some of the insights in this documentary are pretty mindblowing. For instance: Google is scanning like .. all the books at a supposed cost of somewhere between $30 to $100 a book. At the time of the documentary, they've scanned over 10 million. Wow.
Should you look for docu, you can buy it on the site, but it was aired recently on BBC's 'Storyville' too. If you're a bit web-savvy, and you are, you should be able to find it just fine.
Rotten Tomatoes: Google and the world brain.
